About First Baptist Saginaw

The First Baptist Church of Saginaw, Texas, was founded on August 8, 1907. There were fourteen charter members. The first part-time pastor called to serve the church was the Rev. E.T. Tyne. Since its founding, the First Baptist Church has stood as a powerful witness for Jesus Christ for over 100 years.

The church experienced steady growth through 1950s to the 1980s, and in October 1989, the church called Dr. Danny E. Howe to be pastor. Under his leadership, the membership of the church has continued to increase.

The resources of the church have also increased, and the church now employs three other Ministers, a Director of Preschool Ministries, two secretaries, and three custodians.

After much prayer, the church relocated to 300 North Old Decatur Road in March of 2003. The first phase included a worship center, educational space for all ages, and an office complex. Immediately after the church relocated to its current site two parking lot expansions were needed along with a new south-side entrance in order to accomodate traffic.

On April 27, 2008, the church members held a ground-breaking ceremony and dedication service for a new educational building, which contains space for adults, students, and preschoolers.  Moreover, this new educational building contains a library.  This second phase also includes a gathering area and "The Gathering Cafe," where members and guests may purchase food items and coffee-based drinks such as mochas and lattes.  All proceeds go to support missions around the world. This second phase was opened on May 31st, 2009.

Additional phases include a 1,000 seat worship center with new offices, a music suite that will include practice rooms for handbells and ensembles, and a banquet hall complete with commercial kitchen.  These additional phases will be added as the church continues to grow.

As the Eagle Mountain and Saginaw areas continue to expand in population, the First Baptist Church membership will continue to reach out in the name of Christ. It is the goal of the First Baptist membership to be a community-based, multi-generational fellowship reaching all age levels for God's Kingdom and meeting their needs in the name of Christ.
